In recent years, the health of the mouth has been strongly linked to the health of the body. Many experts believe that to achieve a healthy mouth and body, they must have a mouth that is free of harmful metals such as mercury. You may assume that your mouth is safe, but if you have a traditional silver filling, you could be wrong.
For many years, dentists used metal fillings to fill cavities because they were believed to be the most economical and durable. However, the silver metal fillings contain mercury, which has been shown to result in mercury toxicity in the body. When the filling is warmed with friction from chewing or from hot foods and beverages, it releases mercury vapor, which is poison. Mercury toxins have been linked to health conditions such as Alzheimer’s, immune disorders, fatigue disorders, and kidney disease.
Holistic dentists such as Dr. Nathan Pfister of Biodentist Alabama, are committed to only using mercury free materials during restorative oral treatments. In addition to completely eliminating the risks of toxicity from heavy metals, the fillings that are made of plastic composite or ceramic materials that are white or tooth colored and are more aesthetically pleasing.
